There are usually two obvious reasons why your vehicle may not start. The first is a Dead Battery or Alternator. Other reasons could be loose or corroded connection cables or an issue with the starter. It can be hard to determine if you’re dealing with a battery or an alternator problem. If your vehicle attempts to start but fails, then you may have a fuel or spark issue. If the cranking of the engine is harder to start on cold mornings, it starts inconsistently, or there are no interior lights, suspect a failing battery. If jumpstarting works, then you know you have a battery problem.
